This is my Taekwondo Journey Essay. I’m extremely excited and grateful to be going to black belt at Weiwu Taekwondo.
When I started Taekwondo, I thought it was very serious, but as I attended more classes, I realised that it wasn’t. The Masters were friendly and fun, and the classes were very enjoyable. I have learnt so much these past few years at Weiwu, like how to spar, do Poomsae and how to defend myself if I ever get attacked.
Although it was hard during lockdown, I was able to attend classes over Zoom and see our Masters and friends and stay fit online.
I was always scared for Grading, but I was able to learn all of the techniques needed from the Masters and was able to pass all of them. During Grading I was able to show what I’ve learnt to the Masters and earn a new stripe or belt.
I also enjoyed Club Championships. I found that it was a safe and fun way to put our sparring and poomsae skills to practice while also getting a feel of what a Taekwondo competition was like.
I would like to thank Master Brian, Master Joyce, Master Bryanna and Master Benecia who have taught me so much in Taekwondo classes and I hope to continue learning from them and to continue developing good leadership skills as I go to black belt.
