Dear Masters, training / grading partners and everyone else in the room,
In the spring of 2020, amidst the uncertainties and limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, I started my Taekwondo journey. While my children, Piros and Patrik, had already begun their Taekwondo journeys years prior, I joined them on this path, to have new challenges and discover my own inner strength. From virtual training sessions to the eventual return to in-person classes, my journey was nothing so far but determination, joy, family support, a sense of belonging to this tight-knit community and lots of great moments that shaped my experience.
From 2021, as restrictions eased, our Taekwondo training sessions returned to in-person instruction. I relished the opportunity to connect with my Taekwondo community face-to-face, as we collectively continued our journey towards mastery. The classes became a sanctuary where I could challenge myself, learn new techniques, and experience the joy of continuous improvement. The training sessions offered an opportunity to refine my skills, build strength, and grow both mentally and physically.
Watching my kids train over the years had given me a glimpse of what to expect, but experiencing it firsthand was a different story. The physical demands of Taekwondo initially tested my endurance and flexibility, but I was determined to push through.
As I progressed through the grades, I discovered a profound sense of personal growth and each grading marking a significant milestone in my Taekwondo journey. The sense of accomplishment that went along with each belt earned filled me with pride. The discipline required in each training session began to seep into other aspects of my life. I became more focused and determined also in my work responsibilities.
While my own journey in Taekwondo was especially rewarding, watching my children, Piros and Patrik, navigate their own paths brought an additional layer of joy and pride. Supporting them in competitions and witnessing their growth during training sessions filled me with delight. Our shared experiences in Taekwondo strengthened our bond as a family and we became a source of inspiration for one another.
Taekwondo has gifted me with a sense of belonging, personal development, and lasting memories that I will forever cherish. I have not only found physical fitness but also a sense of purpose and personal growth. As I continue along this path, I look forward to the future, knowing that Taekwondo will forever be important part of my life in some way, reminding me of the strength and resilience I possess within.
Standing here right now on my Black belt grading, I am incredibly thankful to my Masters who tirelessly taught and guided me, expanding my self-defence knowledge, enhancing my poomsae expertise, and refining my overall Taekwondo techniques. Their dedication to our growth and improvement, played a pivotal role in shaping the person and martial artist I have become today.
Last but not least I want to thank my whole family, for Piros and Patrik who inspired me and gave advices at many times and for Kata who was my supportive and persistent partner along this exciting journey.
