Hello, Masters. Hello, boys and girls. I am very happy to be here for my black belt grading tonight. I started Taekwondo 4 years ago. On my first day of class, I remembered I was a bit shy and nervous, but I was also excited. I got to meet new friends at Taekwondo and I liked all the activities, especially self-defence.
At Taekwondo, I know it is important to pay attention and to listen to the instructions. When I started, I wasn’t very strong and I couldn’t kick very high, but now I feel stronger. I am not really good at running, but my Masters always make me run and do better. So, if I put in the effort and try my best at training, I can be better. This is an important lesson to learn!
I enjoy my Taekwondo journey so far. Out of all my patterns, I like Pattern 8 and Koryo the best. I had to work hard to achieve the other belts first, otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to do these. So, I am pleased that I have done it. I really like learning self-defence so I can protect myself (and also my sisters), even though I may not be big or fast enough. I thank my Masters for training me. I thank my daddy for practising with me, all the time. Now that I am a black belt, I feel super proud and I am exploding with joy! I wonder what challenges will come next? I think I am feeling a little bit nervous and excited again, just like the first day of white belt. As the journey continues…
