1st poom | march 2025 Dear Masters and fellow students and friends. My name is Rachel, and this is my Taekwondo journey. I started Taekwondo when I was 5 years old because Mum and Dad wanted me to be able to defend myself. When I first started, I felt nervous because I didn’t know what the kick or punch meant and just copied the action. But I now know what they mean.
After 5 years of consistent training, my coordination is way better! When I first started, I could not lift my feet and kick together. I would always fall. I also could not use both my hands at the same time doing different things. In prep, I had my first grading I was very nervous thinking I would fail! But with practice. I passed. Before I knew it, I was making it to a higher and higher belt, and now I am going to grade for my black belt. Although sparring was fun and enjoyable, I wasn’t so good at it. So, I joined Wisp program when I was 9 years old, there was a lot of blood, sweat and tears. But I then broke my arm in 2024 and because of that I had to stop going to taekwondo and Wisp program for a long time. One of the things I enjoyed the most was self-defence. It was fun and enjoyable because of the short and simple actions. When I do my poomsae, sometimes Master Brian would say I was dancing! I struggle with board breaking because of how hard you need to kick and punch to break the board. Overall, over the last couple of years, I have improved a lot in my self-defence, strike, punch, kick, coordination and poomsae. My Taekwondo Journey has been fun and enjoyable with Weiwu Taekwondo. Taekwondo has pushed me all the way to the end. I have learnt to persevere by practising poomsae, self-defence and terminology every day. Even though I am now at Chodanbo. I still have way more to learn. My Taekwondo journey has been enjoyable and fun with Weiwu Taekwondo. I have learnt a lot of skills over the 5 years like patience, strength, flexibility as well as grit to always work hard for what you want and never give up. Thank you, Master Joyce, Master Benecia, Master Bryanna and Master Brian. Taekwondo has given me the courage that I never had before! Thank you for listening everyone! |
