1st poom | march 2025 Hello Masters, friends and families,
My name is Leonard and I would like to talk about my taekwondo journey. At the age of 7, May 2021 I started Taekwondo with my big brother Desmond. When I started my first ever lesson, I felt nervous and scared. I didn’t know anything and what I had to do. After my trial lesson, I felt relieved and when my mum asked me how taekwondo was, I thought that it was okay and fun! This was when my journey began. Later in 2022, I joined poomsae with my brother. When I joined poomsae, it seemed hard, and I was right. Just doing the hand techniques was already challenging enough. This was when I realised that I have been doing the hand techniques wrong ever since I started. If I had to get my techniques right, I would need to keep on practicing. On the 19 th of March 2023, I did my first poomsae competition! When I arrived at the place, I felt extremely nervous. I had no idea what I had to do when I went onto the mats. I did my best listening to the master’s on what I had to do. After I came off the mats, I saw myself getting first. I got a gold medal! I was so happy that I did well in my first competition. But if I wanted to do well in other comps, then I would have to keep on practicing and training hard. Taekwondo has helped me improve on my fitness, flexibility and my memory skills. Taekwondo has taught me many things, but the main thing that I learnt was to always do your best no matter what! I wouldn’t have made it this far without the help of the masters. Thank you, Master Brian for helping me improve on my poomsae, thank you Master Joyce for believing in me and getting the basics, and Master Bryanna and Master Benecia for making sure reminders go out so I can be on time. Thank you, Masters, friends and family, for helping me achieve this goal! |
