My Taekwondo Journey started in 2021 when one of my friends doing taekwondo told me about it. At that time, I was eager to get revenge on my sister so decided to join taekwondo.
On my first-class I was going through a rollercoaster of emotions. It turned out Taekwondo was much better than I expected but I still couldn’t beat my sister which made me mad. But I didn’t give up.
In 2022 my sister also joined Taekwondo. We both joined fast programme which improved my fitness and speed. All that hard work led me to getting an invitation for warriors’ program. I didn’t think warriors training would be that much harder than fast considering fast was already so hard but surprisingly it was.
The best part of warriors training was sparring which was my favourite thing about taekwondo.
That year (2022) I also competed for the first time in State competition. I was quite nervous, but I tried my hardest but sadly I lost. Still, I kept trying harder and trained well for nationals. Unfortunately, I was uncontested. I was a little sad but at least I got my first gold medal. Then shortly after nationals I got bored of taekwondo, so I took a little break from fast and warriors but continued normal classes.
After seeing my sister getting badly beaten in Gold Coast, I decided to join back fast and warriors. And then in 2023 I went on a rampage by winning gold at every competition.
Soon came 2024 which was quite challenging. I lost to same guy 3 times in a row, but I still didn’t give up. With the help of masters, I then finally managed to beat him in 2024 States final. At nationals, I again met him in the finals but unfortunately lost in a very close match. But I tried my hardest to win this, so I am proud of that.
I would have never come this far in Taekwondo if it wasn’t for my masters. A big thanks to all master’s for teaching me the art of taekwondo. Thanks to Master Brian for making me work hard, believing in me and coaching me. Thanks to Master Joyce for helping me and encouraging me always. Thanks to Master Bryanna and Master Benecia for coaching me on and off the court. Thanks.
