I started taekwondo in grade 4, the year 2021. Starting at white belt, I memorised the basic kicks and patterns needed. However, as I journeyed further into my yellow belt I often forgot lots of my basic knowledge like simple kicks and terminology.
However, after much encouragement and practice I moved onto blue belt, along with my peers. I slowly learnt all my patterns, kicks, self-defence, techniques and more whilst venturing through my taekwondo journey until I found myself at red belt.
I was confident in my grading after the red belt with a few mishaps. I often found myself feeling like giving up as I was disheartened at sparring. However, after moving onto Chodanbo, I have improved greatly and have built up my resilience.
Now, I am grading for black belt. I’ve made friends, I’ve learnt that taekwondo is more than just a sport but my way of achieving something and exercising myself and I now have better skills. My growth in confidence, perseverance and hard work has started as I joined taekwondo. I started taekwondo as a fun hobby and I now know it is so much more than that.
Thank you to WeiWu Taekwondo for the continuous guidance and support along my taekwondo journey.
