2023 AWARDS
Regardless of age, belt or skill levels, we recognise and encourage students for their fantastic efforts throughout the year, and this is awarded at our Annual Awards Party. Award is based on each individual’s best attributes displayed and achievements during the year. ASSISTANT INSTRUCTORS APPRECIATION AWARDS We thank our Assistant Instructors for their excellent commitment to class assistance throughout the year. STUDENTS AWARDS (non Warriors) 1. BLACK BELT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – students who graded to Higher Dan | Poom or attained Black Belt rank this year. It takes years of training and dedication to reach this stage and we are proud of their milestone achievements 2. DEDICATION AWARD - students who show excellent dedication to training 3. ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD – students who put in their best efforts at training and we encourage them to continue to do their best 4. ENDEAVOUR AWARD – students who strive to improve continually 5. ENTHUSIASM AWARD – students who show great enthusiasm and eager to learn 6. IMPROVEMENT AWARD – students who show great improvement during the year. It may be improvement in techniques or behaviour (eg confidence) WARRIORS AWARDS 1. CADET ADAPTABILITY AWARD - Our first year cadets who have had a tough year transitioning from no head kicks to head kick divisions. We are extremely proud of how much they have learnt and persevered throughout the year despite the challenges 2. NATIONAL POOMSAE CHAMPION AWARD - contested gold medalist at National Championship (Individual Poomsae) 3. NATIONAL SPARRING CHAMPION AWARD - contested gold medalist at National Championship (Sparring) 4. POOMSAE EXCELLENCE AWARD - Warriors who have won at least 3 gold medals across any contested individual division throughout the year at poomsae competitions 5. SPARRING EXCELLENCE AWARD - Warriors who have won at least 6 fights with a win rate of 85% or more during the year 6. STATE | OPEN POOMSAE CHAMPION AWARD - contested gold medalist at State & Interstate Championships (Individual Poomsae) 7. STATE | OPEN SPARRING CHAMPION AWARD - contested gold medalist at State & Interstate Championships (Individual Poomsae) 8. WARRIORS ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD - Younger and newer Warriors who have put in their best efforts at training and competitions, and we encourage them to continue to train hard towards their goals 9. WARRIORS ENDEAVOUR AWARD - Warriors who have trained hard, shown great improvement and have performed well this year Our Warriors this year have all shown outstanding improvements in both their training and competitions. We would like to recognise the warriors not only for the medals they may bring home but for their performances throughout the year. This year we’ve seen many of the warriors have breakthroughs in their performances and we are very pleased with how much everyone has improved. The Most improved Poomsae Award. This particular student has shown a significant improvement in their poomsae in both training and competition this year. This award goes to TARA CHING. Tara came 1st in her division of 12 this year at nationals and she’s also receiving a National Poomsae Champion and State | Open Poomsae Champion award. This year our top awards have a greater emphasis on behaviour, attitude and performance rather than actual results produced. The following students have demonstrated traits throughout the year that we would like the recognise them for: Respectful Student Award This award goes to the student who follows instructions in training and is always willing to spar anyone. He is respectful towards both the instructors and his peers. This award goes to BILL HAN. Most Passionate Athlete Award This warrior has shown their love for the sport and is always eager to improve even outside of training. He reviews all his previous matches as well as other matches in his division, striving to improve his strategies. This award goes to JOSHUA HOO. Most Coachable Athlete This Warrior listens and executes instructions in competition well and it has shown in their performance and results this year. His ability to listen, comprehend and apply during his fights has been exceptional. The Most Coachable Athlete is BENJAMIN HAN. Outstanding Student Award What stands out the most with this student is how he encourages and supports his club mates. He is always eager to help not only the younger and newer Warriors but also his own peers, while also trying his best during his own training. This student always trains seriously and properly and follows instructions with a good attitude. The Outstanding Student Award goes to CATO ZHU. Student of the Year Award This student has shown all the attributes in their training this year and we are always pleased to see this student try his best, continuously improving himself. He also shows great enthusiasm in classes whilst also encouraging and supporting their club mates. He is polite and respectful to both the instructors and other students and is eager to please, always willing to learn new techniques and skills. Our student of the Year for 2023 is DESMOND HOW. Desmond has Improved in both Poomsae and Sparring this year with his enthusiasm to learning and developing himself. He has also been praised by other club coaches for his good sportsmanship whilst also receiving his black belt this year. Well done Desmond.
