Regardless of age, belt or skill levels, we recognise and encourage students for their fantastic efforts throughout the year, and this is awarded at our Annual Awards Party. Award is based on each individual’s best attributes displayed during the year. We appreciate the generosity of one of our students (who wish to remain anonymous) for his/her donation of 3 Mahalo Ukuleles. The brand Mahalo means thank you in Hawaiian matching our theme. Thank you. APPRECIATION AWARDS Appreciation awards go to our assistant instructors who assist in class, as well as friends and families who supported us at events. STUDENTS AWARDS (non Warriors) 1. ACHIEVEMENT AWARD – students who graded to Higher Dan | Poom or attained Black Belt rank this year. It takes years of training and dedication to reach this stage and we are proud of their milestone achievements 2. DEDICATION AWARD - students who show excellent dedication to training 3. ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD – students who put in their best efforts at training and we encourage them to continue to do their best 4. ENDEAVOUR AWARD – students who strive to improve continually 5. ENTHUSIASM AWARD – students who show great enthusiasm and eager to learn 6. IMPROVEMENT AWARD – students who show great improvement during the year. It may be improvement in techniques or behaviour (eg confidence) WARRIORS AWARDS 1. WARRIORS ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD - Warriors who have put in best efforts at training and competitions, and we encourage them to continue to train hard towards their goals 2. STATE | OPEN CHAMPION AWARD - contested gold medalist at State & Interstate Championships (Individual Poomsae & Sparring) 3. NATIONAL CHAMPION AWARD - contested gold medalist at National Championship (Individual Poomsae & Sparring) 4. WARRIORS DEDICATION AWARD - Warriors who shown excellent dedication to POOMSAE, FAST & Warriors Sparring Training 5. WARRIORS MOST IMPROVED AWARD - Warriors who have shown the most improvement in training and competitions 6. WARRIORS EXCELLENCE AWARD (POOMSAE) - Warriors who have performed well and achieved good results this year 7. WARRIORS EXCELLENCE AWARD (SPARRING) - Warriors who have shown consistently excellent performance and results throughout the year Our Warriors team has grown significantly to 30 warriors participating in competitions this year. We now run 6 classes a week (2 Sparring 2 Poomsae 2 FAST) and all students have shown huge improvement and dedication. We’d like to thank all the parents for their continuous support, and special mention to Ricky for his photography at all the competitions. This year we have competed in 4 State Championships, the Gold Coast open, and the National Championships with our students bringing home a total of 67 Gold, 45 Silver, 41 Bronze. We are also very pleased to announce that at this year's National Championships, in Sparring, our club placed 10th overall out of 85 clubs across Australia, and 4th in Victoria. We would like to say well done to all of our students for their efforts and performances this year. Over the last couple of years, we have gradually introduced more specialised classes and the efforts that our Warriors put in have been reflected in their growth at competitions. Out of our 6 Warrior classes per week, our 3 most dedicated warriors attend almost all 6 classes. All three of these students have attended over 175 classes just this year. Our 3rd highest attendance is Isaac Wong with 178 classes, 2nd is Harrison Chen with 192 classes and our Warrior with the highest attendance this year is Joshua Hoo with 204 classes. Following our dedication award, next is our Warriors Most Improved award. This is given to Warriors we feel have shown the most improvement in both training and competitions. Firstly Poomsae Excellence award - These Poomsae Warriors have had fantastic results throughout the year winning gold in almost every event they have competed in. Warriors Poomsae Excellence FELIX SU ISAAC WONG EARNEST LAW (who wasn’t able to make it tonight) Sparring is very unpredictable and dynamic. We have had to adapt our training several times throughout the year to ensure our students can stay on top of the game. It has been a challenging year with most of our competition team being new competitors. This award is given to Warriors who have consistently shown excellent performances and results throughout the year. Warriors Sparring Excellence AYRTON HSU Ayrton has won 6 out of 6 fights he has had in his division, bringing home 3 golds in 3 competitions. Fighter of the Year This Warrior has had an amazing year in both performance and results. He has shown us his determination and mental strength to finish on top of his massive divisions throughout the year. Our final award, our Fighter of the Year, goes to JOSHUA HOO. This year his youth division in States and Nationals have been unexpectedly big with an average of 3-4 fights. We are pleased with how he has performed at every competition. Josh has impressively won 11 out of 12 fights this year over 4 competitions showing us that his dedication and hard work has paid off. He has worked hard to continuously improve himself and we are proud of the amount of effort he’s put into his training. Last week he finished his final year in Youths strong with his gold medal at the National Championships after pushing through 4 fights in his highly competitive division.
