My Taekwondo journey has been long and worthwhile. I have learnt a lot from everyone during these past 3 years. It first started when my mum wanted me to do some other sport or activity. Then my mum took me to this school to see what it was like. Now that I have gotten this far to my chodanbo 2, my progression through Taekwondo has helped me with a lot of things. Like me making lots of friends, to helping me defend myself if needed.
When I was a white belt, I felt overwhelmed by the bigger and more skilled kids, yet I didn’t let that stop me from doing Taekwondo. As I progressed through my training, I felt more comfortable and confident coming to training. I really like sparring because it is making me use everything I’ve learnt in taekwondo for a real life combat situation. I also liked leading the warm ups because it shows that I can be a leader.
I have also grown my confidence by always being used as the Master Brian’s training partner for demonstrations for the class. I have also shown my love of learning for Taekwondo by never giving up. For example, when I get things wrong, like my poomsae or sparring, I feel like I just want to stop and sit out for the rest of the session. Yet I know that if I do, it will get me nowhere. That is why I never give up and persist.
I would now like to say thank you to Master Brian for helping use my techniques properly. Thank you to Master Joyce for getting my Taekwondo basics started and helping me out when she has time. Also thanks to Masters Bryanna and Benecia for making sure that every reminder goes out so that I will not be late for anything and keeping me on track when I am distracted.
