My name is Tara and my taekwondo journey started when I was 5 yrs old. I wanted to try taekwondo and it worked out okay after the trial lesson. The following week was my first ever lesson. I remember my first grading and how nervous I was because I thought I would fail. In the end, I passed my grading.
I had my first sparring and poomsae competition at Gold Coast Open. Although I won the first match, I was scared when I saw my second opponent because she was way taller than me. I still got a silver medal but I wanted a GOLD medal so it made me more interested in sparring. I wasn't that worried in poomsae, and I won but personally I thought I could do better.
Taekwondo has helped me a lot in fitness, strength, flexibility and patience. It is fun in a way that it's like a game. It taught me that if you want something you have to work for it and you need to be discipline in order to succeed.
Thank you Master Brian for believing in me. Thank you Master Joyce for being patient when I make weird mistakes. Thank you Master Bryanna for encouraging me in class and competitions. And thank you Master Benecia for reminding me to focus.
