My names is Mason Su and I started my taekwondo journey when I was just 4 years old. All I remembered was going to taekwondo class to watch my brother Felix and it was really cool to kick and punch, so I wanted to do the same.
I still remember my first ever grading which I was so shy and scared. I was hiding under the chair and cried until Master Benecia helped me at the end of grading after everyone had gone home.
Time flies and today I am standing in front of everyone to grade for my black belt and I am very excited!
I love going to Warriors training and FAST every week to improve my skills, fitness and to see my friends. I competed in my first competition at Gold Coast Open when I was 6yrs old and I cannot remember what happened there…..
This year I competed in my first Nationals Championship and got a Gold Medal which I am very proud it.
Thank you Master Brian for pushing me and having faith in me that I can do it! Thank you Master Joyce for being patient and always correcting my little mistakes. Thank you Master Benecia for holding my hand in every class when I started this journey to make me feel safe. Thank you Master Bryanna for always being there on and off court coaching me and giving me the confidence to do my best.
And finally, thank you to my parents support and my brother Felix (well, sometimes) for helping me along the way.
I can’t wait for what next year is going to bring with more exciting competitions and trips to come.
