Before I joined taekwondo I was very eager to learn how to do cool kicks and punches like the people on TV. However, once I started, I was only taught basic kicks, not the flying kicks.
Despite this, as I trained and progressed on, I realised taekwondo is much more than kicking and punching (though kicking and punching is still very important). It is also about being self-disciplined, controlling your temper and learning to grow. Being the best version of yourself.
In 2020 I was about to compete in my first ever competition. However, Covid-19 happened, luckily the competition was still allowed to continue. Though afterwards I was forced to do training online. It was tricky but I adapted. Once I was back at the club everything that once felt usual was now different. After that time flew by quickly.
In 2023 I moved houses and changed to Weiwu Taekwondo. This wasn’t the first time I had to adjust so I was less anxious. Most of the things about clubs were similar. However, some things were different, but after some time I managed to adjust.
Now black belt is just in my grasp. Even as a black belt, I’m not done yet.
