Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterized by its kicks and strikes. It is fast and powerful. It helps to build confidence, promote health and self-defense and instill discipline in its students.
I started to learn Taekwondo when I was four and a half years old.
In July 2016, I was invited by my friend Alex to join Weiwu Taekwondo Club whose name was Joon No’s Taekwondo at that time. During my first Taekwondo class, I felt a little bit shy and scared due to the unfamiliar environment as well as unfamiliar people. Also, because I was a very active boy and it was my first time to contact with Taekwondo, I was unable to focus. My body kept moving around as if I had ants in my pants and my head kept turning backward to see what my friend was doing. However, Master Brian, Joyce, Benecia, Bryanna never gave up on me, They were so patient that they not only showed me the Taekwondo actions but also taught me the actions step by step. From then on, I started two nights a week Taekwondo training. Although the training is tough, I never stopped practicing. With my Masters’ continuous professional supports and my hard training, I made a great progress over these four years. Now I am able to concentrate on the class. I can always keep my body and head still during the class. My eyes were on the Masters all the time. Gradually, I mastered all the patterns, terminology and the techniques of doing blocks, strikes, kicks and self-defense. I became more confident. I also felt healthier and stronger than before.
I am very proud of myself tonight.
Master Brian, Master Joyce, Master Benecia, Master Bryanna, thank you again for your tireless teachings! Without you, I do not think I could make such a big achievement. I would also like to call on more kids to join Taekwondo. I guarantee once you take part in Taekwondo, you would find its fun and one hundred percent happier and stronger.
